SUMMARY:Energy efficiency trends in buildings
DESCRIPTION:Energy efficiency trends in buildings\n\nWhat has been the overall trend in final energy consumption of buildings in the EU since 2010?\nWhat are the main drivers of the energy consumption variation\, and in particular energy savings\, for residential and service buildings?\n\nThese are the key questions answered during this (11th) webinar in the Odyssee-Mure on Energy Efficiency Academy. \nJoin the speakers and learn about the outcomes of their research: \n\nThe energy consumption of buildings has steadily decreased since 2010 despite GDP growth.\nThere are large disparities in building performances across countries.\nSince 2015\, the rate of household energy efficiency improvements has dropped by 50% (compared to 2000-2014).\nEnergy efficiency of large electrical appliances\, which has largely improved in the past\, does not counterbalance anymore the rapid growth of the consumption of small appliances.

SUMMARY:B-LOG Final Stakeholder Meeting
DESCRIPTION:B-LOG Final Stakeholder Meeting:\nN° EASME/2019/OP/0007\, entitled STUDY ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN EU FRAMEWORK FOR BUILDINGS’ DIGITAL LOGBOOK (“B-LOG”)\, running from 13 December 2019 to 12 December 2020. \nA digital building logbook is a common repository for all relevant building data. It facilitates transparency\, trust\, informed decision making and information sharing within the construction sector\, among building owners and occupants\, financial institutions\, and public authorities. A digital building logbook is a dynamic tool that allows a variety of data\, information\, and documents to be recorded\, accessed\, enriched\, and organised under specific categories. The role and potential of Digital Building Logbooks as common repositories of all building data was confirmed in the Renovation Wave and the Circular Economy Action Plan of the European Commission. \nAs part of the study\, the project objectives are to create a European-wide definition and concept for digital building logbooks\, carry out an overview of relevant initiatives\, conduct a gap analysis and produce key recommendations for implementation. \nAmong them\, the following are already available online: \n\nDefinition of the Digital Building Logbook\nBuilding Logbook State of Play – A report which offers an overview\, comparative analysis\, and assessment of existing European initiatives.\n\nAs the study approaches its end\, this final stakeholder meeting is meant to provide a venue for discussion of the study findings and of the recommendations for the European Commission to further encourage and spread the use of digital building logbooks. \nStakeholder consultations have been a key component of the study. All findings rely to the opinions expressed by over 120 stakeholders that were consulted through a combination of interviews\, surveys\, and workshops. This is the last of three stakeholder meetings\, including a webinar in March and stakeholder meeting in July 2020.

SUMMARY:The Renovation Wave for buildings: how to make the most of it?
DESCRIPTION:The Renovation Wave for buildings: how to make the most of it?:\nOn 14 October\, the European Commission\, as part of the Green Deal\, published its proposal for the Renovation Wave Strategy for public and private buildings. It is especially targeted at improving energy efficiency in buildings\, including minimum energy performance standards for existing buildings. Buildings account for 40% of consumed energy and 36% of greenhouse gas emissions in the EU. More than 75% of the EU building stock is energy-inefficient. Thus renovating buildings can be a key contributor towards climate neutrality. \nHowever\, the potential of the renovation wave is even greater. This is an opportunity to ensure European buildings do not just help to address energy efficiency\, but are also adapted to climate change\, contribute to better indoor air quality\, enhance people’s well-being and help meet the needs of vulnerable populations. If done well\, renovation projects can contribute to energy security\, job creation\, lower bills for end-consumers and enhance smarter use of resources. \nThis online Policy Dialogue will discuss the state of the European building stock\, and how the Renovation Wave Strategy can help support climate action while also bringing economic and societal benefits in the post-COVID-19 green recovery.

SUMMARY:Sustainable Places 2020 | Workshops on Deep Renovation 2.0 and Energy Efficient Renovation
DESCRIPTION:Deep renovation Joint Workshop 2.0:\n“P2Endure Deep Renovation Joint Workshop 2.0” aims at bringing together stakeholders representing key decision makers and implementers in the field of deep renovation of buildings\, along with retrofitting solutions users\, and developers for an array of interactive poster sessions and discussions\, and a unique hands-on showcase of innovative deep renovation of building solutions.\nThe objective of the workshop is to raise awareness on the most innovative building renovation and energy saving solutions and as well as to present and discuss altogether the main features of P2ENDURE e-Marketplace. \nParticipating projects: \nP2Endure\, EENSULATE and ENVISION \nChair of the workshop:\nMichelle Giordano (RINA Consulting) \nLink:\nhttps://www.sustainableplaces.eu/home/sp20-workshops-events/sp20-deep-renovation-joint-workshop-2-0/ \nDigitalisation tools for an energy efficient renovation:\nDigital transformation is slowly progressing in the European construction industry\, which means a huge gap between theoretical digital opportunities and the realities of on-site construction. Digitalization is the key challenge to support the renovation interventions since it may contribute to collaboration\, cost efficiency\, and time savings. At the same time\, it guarantees process quality along with all the renovation phases\, solving some of the hindrances due to the uncertainty of the process. \nParticularly\, the use of Building Models allows to store and share the information about the existing building through Building Information Modelling (BIM). This is a crucial point to avoid uncertainties since the models are fed and checked by all stakeholders. This workshop will bring together a selection of H2020 EU-funded projects involving experts from the AECOO industry to discuss a common strategy to pitch their progress and intermediate achievements\, moreover\, discuss the major technical and non- technical challenges they are currently facing. \nParticipating projects:\nSPHERE\, BIM4REN\, BIM4EEB\, BIM-SPEED\, DIGIPLACE\, BIMERR\, BIMzeED\, ENCORE and RenoZEB \nParticipating European Commission representative:\nDominique Planchon\, Senior Program Officer\, DG Research & Innovation \nChairs of the workshop:\nMohamed Elagiry (R2M solution) & Antoine Dugue (Nobatek INEF4) \nLink:\nhttps://www.sustainableplaces.eu/home/sp20-workshops-events/sp20-digitalization-tools-for-energy-efficient-renovation-workshop-2/
